d-gruv Mechatransducer 

DJ/Producer David Antonio D'Amato: D-Gruv or "The Mechatransducer", has been spinning professionally for over 20 years.  He has been featured in publications and news shows like Time Out New York, Cool in Your Code, FOX News, NBC Weekend, Metro NY News, New York Magazine and the Times Ledger.  He has performed at numerous clubs and venues like Crash Mansion and Boulevard, the Back Room, the Musical Box, Zone 13, Centro-Fly, Frank's Lounge, Karma Lounge, and many more. He held a five year residency with DJ Sambarella at La Vuelta Lounge and worked the Green Parrot during the 1980's.     
 

In 2007, he featured at "The Great Charity Spin", a fundraising event where he DJ'd for 72 hours straight (an unofficial NYC record) to increase cancer awareness among young people and raise money for several cancer related organizations. He has performed at numerous special events as well, ranging from art gallery openings and festivals like J-Walk or the Painter's Ball, to charity events like Amped for the Cure, Peace Satisfies, the RDF Fashion Show, CitiCorp NY's Spin Nation and the Festival de Birra in Cassino, Italy.  

In 2004, David established "Gruv Gallery", a music and DJ troop based in Long Island City New York.  To date, the group has performed and created two albums of original dance music, electronic vibes, and melodic hip hop tracks. David is currently producing for and working with his Gruv Gallery bandmates Sambarella and Big Game James. He and Sambarella are also spinning for the Goodie Two Shoe's New Wave parties at Boulevard in lower Manhattan.   

As a DJ, he specializes in world music, deep house, disco, electronic, new wave/80’s, funk, and old school hip hop. He is known for his vast range, eclectic mixes and “flow sets” which incorporate multiple genres. He has dedicated his DJ/Production career to the memory of his cousin Robert, who was his best friend and first DJ partner in the 1980's.
